“Koryu” — Japan’s Traditional Ikebana Scissors

Ikebana is said to have originated in the Nara period as a Buddhist offering of flowers. Over time it developed its own established styles, becoming an art form appreciated for its beauty. Known as sadō and kadō (the ways of tea and flowers), it has long been practiced not simply as flower arranging, but as a discipline for cultivating the mind.

Today, it is loved around the world as a traditional art form symbolizing the refined aesthetic sensibility of Japanese culture.
